When Bill and Melinda Gates said they were divorcing, the palatial properties listed among their assets included a $131 million family home nicknamed Xanadu 2.0 and a private island in Belize.

But attention also turned to the beachside spot in North Carolina where Bill would repair each year for a long weekend with an old flame, as part of an understanding he had with Melinda.

The property has been identified by the New York Post as a four-bedroom home called Castle Sween, near Corolla on the line of barrier islands that make up North Carolina’s Outer Banks. The paper found Ann Winblad, Gates’s previous girlfriend, listed in property records as a trustee.
