Ljungberg, who was part of Arsene Wenger's Invincibles, has previously coached Arsenal's U15 and U19 sides.

He left the Emirates last year to become No2 at Bundesliga side Wolfsburg but, after the German club narrowly avoided relegation after coming through a play-off, will now head back to his old club.

Ljungberg told the North London outfit's official website: "I’m delighted to be returning to the club.

"Arsenal has always been a special place for me and I’m really excited at this opportunity to work with our under-23 team.
