Jennifer Aniston is in hot water with fans after news broke that she declined to use an intimacy coordinator for her steamy scenes with Jon Hamm in The Morning Show. While Aniston says it’s because she’s “seasoned,” fans are calling her out for being “disrespectful” and pointing out the irony of it being a show about media covering up sex scandals.
Season 3 of The Morning Show just ended this past November, and luckily for fans, it has been renewed for a fourth season. Jennifer Aniston stars in the show alongside Reese Witherspoon, and fans have been loving this duo. Hopefully Jen can get back in their good graces…
Jennifer Aniston Declines An Intimacy Coordinator
In season 3 of the show, Jennifer Aniston's character, Alex Levy, and Jon Hamm's character, Paul Marks, have a rather intimate scene during episode 6: The Stanford Student. In an interview with Variety, Aniston talked about how she and director Mimi Leder prepared for this sultry scene.
"They asked us if we wanted an intimacy coordinator," she said. "I'm from the olden days, so I was like, 'What does that mean?' They said, 'Where someone asks if you're OK,' and I'm like, 'Please, this is awkward enough!' We're seasoned—we can figure this one out."
Aniston also pointed out that having Leder there was all the comfort she needed. "Having Mimi there, you're protected," she said. "I never felt uncomfortable."
"It was also very choreographed," she explained. "That's the beauty of Mimi and our gorgeous editor, the music and lighting. So you don't prepare."
But others defended Aniston, saying, "With her having declined the offer and saying it would have made her more uncomfortable, you would think that people would respect how she chooses to work."
"I mean, yes absolutely, everyone should be comfortable at work," said another person. "But like if the two people that are actually involved in the act don't want one because it would make the situation worse for them, that should be prioritized over the others."
"So we should force intimacy coordinators on the ones that have to listen and deal with them, so that some random key grip or PA on set feels 'safe'? Lmao," another fan wrote.
Jennifer Aniston has yet to comment on the situation.
