Slauerhoffbrug, or "Slauerhoff Bridge" in English, is one of the most exciting things in the Netherlands to look at. It is also called the "Flying Drawbridge." The bridge is located very, very far up north in a city called Leeuwarden. This bridge is actually a road bridge, meaning cars can travel over it. It moves up when river traffic, like big boats, have to cross the river.

This type of bridge is really cool because it uses two arms to raise up in the air when boats are coming through and can quickly go back down. It doesn't take as long as some of the older bridges, such as the Sintservaasbrug in Maastricht, that I've already shown you!

The bridge works by moving a piece of the rode up and down when needed. It's made of iron and steel, two very strong metals.

Because the Netherlands has so many canals (human-made waterways) and rivers, you see bridges a lot throughout the country. These bridges have to be made so that boats and barges can fit underneath them as well as allow for cars and bikes to drive over them. That's why drawbridges, what the Slauerhoff Bridge is, are really helpful.

I'm including a few pictures of the bridge and hopefully, one day, some of you can go see it yourselves!
