Biography: Christian Bale has had a long and successful film career that began aged 13 as the star of Steven Spielberg's "Empire of the Sun" (1987). He has played DC superhero Batman three times in Christopher Nolan's trilogy of films "Batman Begins", "The Dark Knight" and "The Dark Knight Rises".
Bale is also a critically acclaimed actor, he won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Supporting actor for "The Fighter" (2010), and a second Golden Globe for "Vice" (2018) portrayingd Dick Cheney.
Bale is known for the intense preparations he brings to his acting and for his ability to alter his appearance for each role. This is in evidence in "American Psycho", "The Machinist" for which he reputedly lost 60 pounds and "The Fighter".
