I was skeptical when I saw a Reposado going for more than the price of the Anejo, enticing blurbage notwithstanding. But, being a fan of Los Hermanos Camarenra, I kept going back and looking at it, and finally decided I had to find out what was going on. I think this actually compares favorably with, e.g., the regular release Fortaleza Reposado. The bourbon influence is light, but definitely there. All in all it's a very nice sip, and, surprisingly, a real value for the money. They say the trick to getting good liquor is finding somebody who knows how to pick good barrels. Looks like I found them.
Great value for the quality and taste. Unique and rare
The Banhez Mezcal Wild Tobala is amazing and was delivered promptly and on plan! Will order from Mission Wine & Spirits again.
I've purchased a few bottles of this Amontillado-finished Glenfiddich 12, and each of them benefited greatly by letting them have time to air out. When you bring this home, remove the cork and let the bottle sit open until the following evening, and THEN and ONLY THEN pour yourself the first dram. That will greatly reduce the sharp, fiery nose and palate this whisky exhibits fresh out of the bottle. This is soooo much more flavorful than their standard 12yo, and at either the regular or sale price, it's one of the best bargains to be found these days in a sherried Speysider - but you MUST let it air out first!
