• Former NFL star Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson hasn't played in a game since 2011.
  • He's still offering "tips" from his playing days.
  • When ESPN Insider Adam Schefter reported that star QB Andrew Luck was dealing with an ankle injury, Ochocinco said that he used to solve his injuries with warm urine.

Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson may have played his last NFL game way back in 2011, but that doesn't mean the former wide receiver is done offering advice to current players. When ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter tweeted the latest report on the injury to the star Indianapolis Colts Quarterback Andrew Luck—he's dealing with high ankle issue—Ochocinco chimed in to share what he used to treat his injuries.

"Adam, i soaked my ankle in warm urine to heal all my lower extremity injuries, notice i was never injured my entire career," he wrote. "Please pass along my message, it’s a home remedy."

Johnson missed games in 2001, 2008, 2010, and 2011, so we're not entirely sure how effective his tried-and-trusted home remedy is after all.

It's worth noting that Ochocinco is not alone when it comes to athletes touting the benefits of working with urine. Most famously, former Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants outfielder Moises Alou used to urinate on his hands to give them callouses in lieu of using batting gloves. Jorge Posada, former Yankees catcher, said that he'd done the same at certain points as well.

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Rich Hill has a long history of blisters on his fingers, which have derailed some of his seasons. Hill admitted to urinating on his hands to make the blisters go away.

While there's a precedent for athletes using urine, Johnson's suggestion is still quite unorthodox.

This isn't the first time that Johnson—whose name was legally "Chad Ochocinco" between 2008 and 2012—has talked about this odd practice. The six-time Pro Bowler shared his proclivity for urine in 2016 on ESPN's Mike and Mike morning show.

Urine as a remedy also makes somewhat frequent appearances on Johnson's Twitter feed. "Man my ankle so fat it don't make no sense smh," Amari Cooper, the future NFL star who was at the time playing for the University of Alabama, tweeted.

"I soak my sprained ankles in warm urine," Johnson wrote back.

Cooper was not interested in this suggestion. "lol imma let you have that one then b," he wrote.

In fact, it seems like Ocho has not been shy about offering this suggestion up throughout the years:

You know what... I think he may have had us. But uncovering that last one ("Soak your feet in warm urine," as a home remedy for a migraine is questionable at best, I must say!) instead points toward this being an incredibly long con by Mr. Ochocinco. A truly diabolical plan—one with the endgame of as many people soaking their feet in warm urine as possible.
