Lucía Méndez As Catalina Creel?
The actress of countless classics weighs in on rumors that she would be Catalina Creel on a "Cuna De Lobos" remake. Televisa

Lucía Méndez has been away from telenovelas since "Esperanza Del Corazón," where she gave life to a heartless abuela known as Lucrecia Duprís. The 59-year-old actress is one of many names that have come up to give new life to Catalina Creel on a "Cuna De Lobos" remake. Promoting her new stage play "Un Encuentro Inesperado," the "Viviana" actress stopped by "Formula Espectacular" to talk to Flor Rubio. During the interview she was asked if she would return to telenovelas with the iconic character. "I would love it as a character," Méndez said. "It would be a challenge to play Catalina Creel, but sincerely it's unbeatable."

The "Amor De Nadie" actress is absolutely right as Creel completely marked María Rubio's career. She is still one of the most recognized villains of Mexican telenovelas of all time. Years ago, producer Salvador Mejía revisited the idea and adapted the classic into a series format. Mejía cast Rebecca Jones as the antagonist and shot a pilot with actors including William Levy and Danna Garcia. That went nowhere and now producer Carlos Moreno is working with writers Martha Carrillo and Cristina Garcia on an updated version. The trio has done telenovelas like "Bajo La Misma Piel," "Amor Bravío," "En Nombre Del Amor" and "Cuando Me Enamoro."

Talks of a telenovela form adaptation have been ongoing and one of the names that has been thrown out there to take on the legendary role is Daniela Castro. Recently Primero Noticias approached the actress and asked her if she would agree to be in a "Cuna De Lobos" remake. "It would be an honor, a pleasure," she said. "They have not asked me to do it and I think that they are giving me time because yes, this character... wow! it's very complicated." Other names have included Diana Bracho, Victoria Ruffo and Azela Robinson. Do you think Lucía Méndez would be a good Catalina Creel?
