Zooey Deschanel has filed for divorce from her husband of two years, Death Cab For Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard. According to documents seen by TMZ, the 31-year-old actress, who filed the papers on 27 December 2011, cites "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. News of the couple's decision to separate first broke in early November when a rep for the actress announced that the pair, who married in 2009 at a ceremony in Seattle, had decided to separate. A source at the time revealed that the break-up was "mutual and amicable" and that there was "no third party involved". Previously, Deschanel revealed that Gibbard's constant touring schedule with his band, Death Cab For Cutie, was difficult to deal with. "[It is] definitely hard," she said. "He's really good at calling. He's probably better than I am. He's a very conscientious person." In the September issue of New York magazine, Gibbard gushed about meeting and pursuing the star, saying: "I'd seen her movies and obviously I thought she was very beautiful."
Recalling the moment when their mutual music manager introduced them three years ago, the musician said: "I was just awestruck that she was even talking to me."
