Absolut Vodka Ads Get Permanent Home in Sweden's New Spritmuseum

Like Absolut, Wolgers hails from Sweden, making his inclusion particularly appropriate. For his Absolut work, he reproduced Marcel Duchamp’s iconic Dadaist Bottle Rack, altering it only with an upside-down Absolut bottled place on one of its rungs.

Warhol produced the first piece of Absolut art in 1986, a collaboration that makes sense given the artist’s penchant for mixing high art with pop culture symbols.

Warhol then convinced Haring, another major figure in New York City’s Pop Art scene, to contribute to the campaign. Haring painted an Absolut bottle in outline, surrounded by a crowd of his signature outline figures, rendered with childlike simplicity.

Trockel contributed a screen print from a film still in which a knit sleeve covering an Absolut bottle slowly unravels. It echoes an earlier Trockel piece in which the same thing happens to a woman’s torso.

The German fashion photographer created a series of six images, all taken around the Absolut distillery in Åhus, with the help of fashion designers such as John Galliano and Helmut Lang. This one features model Kristen McMenamy posing as a scarecrow.
