Three metre saltwater crocodile sighted at Town Beach sparking closure

A three-metre saltwater crocodile has been sighted near Town Beach at 2pm this afternoon, with swimmers advised to avoid the area.

Shire of Broome Rangers have closed Streeter’s Jetty, Catalina’s and Town Beach which will remain closed for at least the next 24 hours.

Parks and Wildlife Service staff and Yawuru Rangers are patrolling the area while further actions are being considered to remove the crocodile.

People are urged to be cautious and stay well away from the water’s edge.

Any sightings should be reported to DBCA Parks and Wildlife Service Broome on (08) 9195 5500.
