Daniel Filmus

Senator, Argentina

Daniel Filmus is senator for the city of Buenos Aires and chairs the Committee of Foreign Affairs and Worship in the National Congress. He previously served as minister of education, science, and technology under former President Néstor Kirchner's administration and as secretary of education for the city of Buenos Aires from 2000 to 2003. Filmus has also been a researcher and a professor at the National Council of Scientific and Technical Investigations of the City of Buenos Aires (CONICET). He began his public career in 1989 when he was appointed general director of the Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO) of Buenos Aires. He holds a degree in sociology from University of Buenos Aires and a Master’s degree in education from the Federal Fluminense University.
