Original lithographs as cover (3 colours) and frontispiece (4 colours) realized by Pierre Bonnard.
Edition of 1000 copies. Copy on vélin, with some minor oxydations, otherwise in really excellent conditions and uncut.
Study by André Mellerio, lover and collector of prints, dedicated to graphic works and lithography in particular. Mellerio was also founder and director of the Art Magazine L’Estampe et L’Affiche, which in this case is the editor of the volume.
One of the first French illustrated books of modern publishing industry.

Pierre Bonnard
Pierre Bonnard was a French painter, illustrator and printmaker, born in 1867. He is known especially for the stylized decorative qualities of his paintings and his bold use of color. He painted landscapes, urban scenes, portraits and intimate domestic scenes, where the backgrounds, colors and painting style usually took precedence over the subject. He was a founding member of the post-impressionist group of avant garde painters, Les Nabis. He was also a leading figure in the transition from impressionism to modernism.
