Dancing With the Stars‘ Tom Bergeron Out as Host After 15 Years
Dancing With the Stars is parting ways with longtime host Tom Bergeron, who says he will not return to the ABC competition series for Season 29.
“Just informed @DancingABC will be continuing without me,” Bergeron announced on Twitter late Monday afternoon. “It’s been an incredible 15 year run and the most unexpected gift of my career. I’m grateful for that and for the lifelong friendships made. That said, now what am I supposed to do with all of these glitter masks?”
Update: ABC confirms that both Bergeron and co-host Erin Andrews are exiting (read the network’s statement).
Bergeron has hosted DWTS since its debut in 2005, alongside a series of co-hosts, including Lisa Canning, Samantha Harris, Brooke Burke-Charvet and Erin Andrews. Bergeron also emceed America’s Funniest Home Videos from 2001 to 2015. Prior to that, he hosted Hollywood Squares from 1998 to 2004, for which he won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host. He recently participated in Fox’s The Masked Singer — but not as host. Bergeron, instead, was unmasked as the singer underneath the Taco costume.
Dancing With the Stars is slated to return this fall on ABC (airing Mondays at 8/7c), although it is not yet clear how the show plans to adapt for coronavirus safety concerns.

The show was fun but should just go. The continuous tweaks and new rules and whatnot are tired by now. Tom was great, hope he lands on his feet

Won’t be the same without him. Tyra is not a good replacement. The show has been losing it’s ratings due to the poor contestants. Not well known.. A few recent winners were not the best choices. Will miss Tom and the show. You don’t change what’s not broken. If they change the judges it will be a goner. The reason it’s loosing it’s ratings is due to the people that run it. They are the ones to be axed.

If it wasn’t he decision and he was forced out due to age, then this reads like his episode of Castle minus him dead in the morgue. I don’t think Bobby would be his replacement, I think that Erin will just probably be hosting solo. Also, can we please just push DWTS back to spring 2021 it would be safer on all involved if we did.

I am not shocked. Tom made the fatal error of questioning the appropriateness of a political figure in the cast last year. It turned out to be a fiasco, but Tom hadn’t stuck by the party line. I wonder if his removal was championed by a tweeting politician!
Shame on you you, ABC. Dancers and co-hosts came and went, but Tom was the backbone of the show.

You are right. The host should always keep their political opinions in their minds. He should asks Tim Allen from “Last man standing ” He will be missed and the show will not carry the same comedic style.
He was one of the last reasons for watching. None of the pros we loved are there anymore, Len’s crankiness has become toI much to watch, contestants going through are because of their fan base and not their performances. Just end this dumpster fire.
What a shame. I loved seeing and hearing him each week and it seemed like everyone there loved him. Not sure if I will even bother to tune in this year.

Tom was – without question – the best part of the show – and the most consistent, as well. Judges changed, co-hosts changed, band leaders changed, heck – even the stairs changed – multiple times! Yet he was there, and charming, and funny, and a shoulder to cry on, or a boost to the ego, and such a big cheerleader for the whole wacky world of mirror ball mania. I don’t know if there was a money issue, perhaps ABC cut the budget and asked Tom to take a cut – no idea. Whatever it was, Tom will be missed.
Given the show isn’t the ratings juggernaut it used to be, it’s probably a cost saving measure. It’s a shame too, because Tom is worth every penny he’s paid because he elevates every show he hosts. I know it sounds crazy, but I hope he gets offered one of these games show reboots that keep popping up everywhere. He’d definitely make it fun

The only way I’m okay with this news is if it’s because he’s going to be a suprise contestant on the upcoming season. Otherwise, what a terrible decision by ABC. He’s one of the best parts of the show.

I like Tom Bergeron as the host and I will miss him! In my opinion, he did a great job and added to the show with some of his comments. Goodbye, Tom.
As someone who has been a longtime viewer and fan of Dancing With The Stars since season 1, I am completely shocked at this news. I hope that whoever the new host will be understands that we longtime fans will be judging them nonstop and criticizing them if they make mistakes.

Calling it now..Alfonso Ribiero. He has been in multiple times since he won in different capacities. Plus he is a good show man and has a great personality and knows how the show goes. He is my guess for sure.
If you’re right, that solidifies my decision to walk away. He’s not natural the way Tom is. Everything about him seems like a facade. The showman putting on a show. Hard pass.
