The last few weeks have presented a lot of plans from department store retailers to make major upgrades, expansions, and additions to their Manhattan flagships. Bergdorf Goodman has a 40-part renovation planned, Saks Fifth Avenue is giving their private label men's brands tons of dedicated space, and Macy's is dropping serious cash to overhaul their Herald Square store. Lord & Taylor recently announced plans for a new luxury division, but apparently they have more in store for their Fifth Avenue flagship.

For starters, a two-level, 100,000-square-foot men's store is slated for a September opening at the department store. The upgrade—double the space currently dedicated to guys—will take over the ninth and tenth floors of the flagship. There is also a two-year, $40 million renovation planned for several other floors of the department store. This comes after a $25 million "touch up," mostly centered on a main floor reworking. Shopping Fifth Avenue should be a little more glittery by the holiday season.
