Tribeca still reigns supreme as NYC's most expensive neighborhood

Another year, another Tribeca victory; the neighborhood emerged atop PropertyShark’s list of most expensive neighborhoods in New York City based on the median sale price. In Tribeca, that stands at a whopping $4.683 million. And while the number of sales went down in the neighborhood from 482 in 2016 to 417 this year, the median sale price still jumped up 12 percent from last year when it was $4.173 million.

Soho hung on to the second position despite the median sale price going down from $3.517 million last year to $2.997 million this year. Rounding out the top five this year were Hudson Square, the Financial District, and Little Italy, in that order.

Unsurprisingly, Manhattan reigned supreme among NYC boroughs with seven of the top 10 neighborhoods in the borough—for whatever its worth though, that’s one less than last year.

Dumbo was on top in Brooklyn yet again with a median sale price of $1.98 million, but there were two neighborhoods in Brooklyn that also made it to the top 10 list this year: Boerum Hill and Red Hook.

Boerum Hill was largely buoyed into the top with a large amount of sales and its median sale price climbed 52 percent from last year to $1.629 million. And while it didn’t make the top 10 citywide, Fort Greene saw the highest increase in median sale price across NYC, an astounding 95 percent. Among other superlatives, the Upper East Side saw the most number of sales across the city with 2,537 transactions in 2017.
