Pick of the Day: 1994 Dodge Ram 1500 4×4

Ready for adventure in any weather

-

In 1996, the action-adventure movie Twister hit theaters and was an instant hit, earning nearly $500 million at the box office; it was the second highest-grossing film that year (first place went to Independence Day). Almost thirty years later, the movie remains a favorite among storm-chasers and film critics. While Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton played key roles as main characters, one of the other memorable characters was a red Dodge Ram driven throughout the film.

The Pick of the Day is a low-mileage 1994 Dodge Ram 1500 4×4 pickup listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a private seller in Grand Haven, Michigan. (Click the link to view the listing)

“Restored in 2022,” the listing states. “Very clean, single owner, always stored indoors.” This truck comes from the second generation of the Ram pickup which debuted in 1994 and continued through 2002. It was sold in two-door regular cab, two-door club cab, and four-door quad cab variations. This Ram generation was a sales success early on and was named “Truck of the Year” by Motor Trend. After 2010, Ram became a standalone brand under Fiat Chrysler (now Stellantis North America).

Showing just 93,497 miles on the odometer, this regular-cab Ram 4×4 looks to have lived a relatively easy life. The cargo area has a spray-in bedliner and features a black-finished tubular rollbar. The Flame Red body has color-matched emblems along with unique Ram 1500 decals on each side of the bed, and the cab features a split bench with gray leather upholstery and a fold-down center console. Handy cargo trays are found behind the seat, which is a nice feature since space is limited in a regular-cab truck.

Power comes from a 318cid Magnum V8 mated to a five-speed manual transmission, and torque is directed to all four wheels via robust Dana axles. The truck has undergone mechanical work including replacement of the shock absorbers, clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, pilot bearing, brakes, and tires according to the listing.

The actual Twister movie truck, by the way, was a 1995 Ram 2500 Laramie SLT club cab. Chrysler reportedly supplied five such pickups to be used in the filming, including one that was a prototype. It is unclear how many remain today, so this red half-ton might be the next-best thing to owning one!

The asking price is $35,000 for this Flame Red restored Ram.
