TORONTO — Canadian actor Kevin Zegers says news of the birth of his twins is premature.
Both US Weekly and the UK’s Daily Mail reported Tuesday that Zegers and his wife Jaime Feld welcomed their daughters.
Citing a photo of an EKG monitor that Zegers posted on Instagram, the Mail reported that Feld “delivered twin girls” and US Weekly shared news of “double the baby joy in the Zegers household.”
As messages of congratulations started flowing in, Zegers, tweeted a clarification.
The 30-year-old Ontario native married Feld in August 2013 after getting engaged the previous summer in the Muskoka region north of Toronto.
Zegers became well known for his role in Air Bud films and earned acclaim for playing the troubled bisexual son of a transsexual in 2005’s Transamerica starring Felicity Huffman.
His credits include films like The Colony and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones as well as TV’s Gossip Girl and Gracepoint.
Last summer Zegers told Global News that being married has changed him. “Acting is a selfish thing. It’s not a sort of inclusive process, so part of balancing being married now is kind of figuring out what works for us,” he explained.
“I can’t be away for 11 months out of the year. It doesn’t make any sense, not if I want to stay married. Where we shoot things is important… for how long. I’m sure when I become a father it will add something.”
