Elwyn New Jersey to present murder mystery

Cast members for Elwyn New Jersey's production of "Murder in the Mansion III: 1930s Hollywood," an interactive, murder mystery play, take a break from rehearsals for the show, which opens April 21 in the Maxham Mansion at 1667 E. Landis Ave., in Vineland.

VINELAND - Elwyn New Jersey will present "Murder in the Mansion III: 1930s Hollywood," a cocktail party and interactive, murder mystery play at 7 p.m. April 21 and 22 in the Maxham Mansion at 1667 E. Landis Ave.

Guests are invited to dress in 1930s formal dress and enjoy cocktails and gourmet food prepared by Chef Rob Buono of the Greenview Inn.

YMCA to host Healthy Kids Day

In the play, written and directed by Shirley Burke, the movie industry has just turned from silent movies to talkies. Some actors drawing good box office returns have good salaries and studio power.

For the most part, though, the studio heads, particularly, Adolph Zukor, are power brokers of the industry.

Act One takes place in the Coconut Grove restaurant and nightclub in the Ambassador Hotel. Actors, tourists and movie people gather almost nightly to be seen and find out what's going on.

They are entertained by Lynn Roberts, best friend of Carole Lombard, an up and coming actress in the business. Act Two takes place in the Paramount Studio in the dressing rooms, hallways and offices. is the writer/director.

Tickets are $50 and seating is limited. Sponsorship and advertising opportunities are available. Proceeds benefit the Self-Advocacy Pavilion project for individuals with special needs served by Elwyn New Jersey.
