JOPLIN AT CARNEGIE HALL
On April 1, 2017, Richard Dowling performed The Complete Piano Works
of Scott Joplin in two consecutive sold-out recitals at 2:00 PM & 7:00 PM
in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York.

Mr. Dowling is the first pianist to perform the complete cycle of Joplin's 53
published piano works in public. Notably, these historic twin recitals took
place exactly 100 years to the day that Scott Joplin died in New York.

Mr. Dowling performed a variety of rags, waltzes, marches and cakewalks
on each of his two
programs. (27 works on the 2:00 PM recital followed by
26 works and a special Joplin encore on the 7:00 PM recital.)

Tickets were available on
Carnegie Hall's website or by calling
CarnegieCharge (212-247-7800) for $50 & $60, along with a select group
of premier VIP seats for $100. Audience members can receive a 20%

Scott Joplin's grave marker at St. Michael's Cemetery in Queens, NY. Recent
research by Joplin scholar Dr. Edward Berlin indicates that Joplin was most likely
born in Texas in 1867, not 1868. Joplin died in New York City on April 1, 1917.
