Why Early Access?

“We've been working on GeneRally 2 for a long time, and it's at the stage where we're really keen for people to be able to play with it and enjoy it. In addition, there are still things we want to improve and features we want to add to make it better! With Early Access, we want to continue developing the game, whilst receiving active feedback from the community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're aiming to be in Early Access for about a year but, ultimately, we'll be in Early Access until we feel the game is complete.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The major thing that we're hoping to add in Early Access is online multiplayer. On top of this, we want to add more cars, more default tracks and more objects for the Track Editor. We'd also like to improve the AI and the options for customising their driving behaviour.

We'll also be taking on board community suggestions about what to improve during the Early Access period!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version has the majority of basic game systems and features in place. You can play by yourself, with friends in local multiplayer (or via Remote Play) or with the AI. You can build tracks in the Track Editor, and share them with the world. At this point in time the game needs only one more "major feature" (online multiplayer), work on the AI and physics, and then a variety of smaller additional features and polish.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Over the course of Early Access, the price will rise as we add new features and the game gets closer to completion.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are always happy to hear suggestions from the GeneRally community! We have a Discord server in which we actively participate in discussion about the game and its future. We regularly gather feedback from our mailing list users, Steam discussion forums and posts on social media about the game and its direction.”

GeneRally 2 is a friendly top-down arcade racing game - with an easy-to-use, built-in track editor. GeneRally 2 is the sequel to the 2002 classic, GeneRally - one of the most played arcade racing games of all time! Have fun racing alone against the AI; with your friends in "no split-screen necessary" couch PvP; or try your hand at creating tracks and sharing them with the world.

Experience a wide variety of fun and interesting tracks created by us, by the GeneRally 2 community - or make the perfect track for you in our track editor. With 60+ objects (and more being added all the time); 12 different surface types (from dirt and gravel, to snow and ice); and a feature-packed terrain-editing tool - the only limit is your imagination! Upload your creations to Steam Workshop and share them with the world. You can even import tracks from GeneRally 1 directly into the game!
Race against the clock (and the ghost car) in time-trial; against the AI; or with friends in couch PvP (online multiplayer coming during Early Access). There's no need for split screen - the whole track is visible at once - so grab your friends and family, and get racing! Compete in single races, or see who's victorious over multiple races in championship mode. Up to 8 players can play together on the same computer.
Customise your car and stand out from the crowd - adjust the colours and paint scheme for you and every car in the race.
Detailed car physics take account of many different real-world parameters like drive-train type (FWD/RWD/AWD), suspension travel/rebound, weight distribution and more! The cars are easy-to-learn but hard-to-master, based on a realistic physics simulation.
Plan your pitstops and manage your fuel, tyre wear and damage over the course of the race - or turn all of those off and enjoy unlimited ability to run your friends off the road!
With a variety of different cars (5 at launch, more coming later), each with their own unique performance and handling characteristics, there's never a dull moment.
Tweak the AI opponents for closer racing - choose between multiple driving style "profiles" and adjust their skill level to battle for victory.
