On Point

My first artist that I am going to show to you all is Juan Francisco Casas from La Carolina, Spain. His art is way beyond anything that I could ever hope to do, but I love it that he uses a BIC ball point pen (I am not much of a pencil-user myself). His drawings are photo-realistic and just plain amazing. Most of his drawings are of women, but he also does self-portraits. I love the rock and roll feel of all the works.

Casas’ drawings are risque for the most part which adds to the excitement that the subjects’ poses already create. All of the drawings are of someone in motion, whether it be showering or laughing. The use of only one color – blue or black – also adds a gritty type of feel to the work. The amazing attention to detail used by the artist makes the drawings seem to jump from the page, and each one is full of personality.

He does paintings as well, which are also brilliant. I just thought that the fact that these are done in pen was so cool. But, if you want to check out his paintings, they are all on his website! 🙂

Here are a few examples, but you can check him out here: http://www.juanfranciscocasas.com/
