Ex-NFL star Chad Johnson shows up at Iowa teen's house after accepting video game challenge

Reese Skinner couldn’t believe his eyes Monday when he saw his latest FIFA challenger roll up to his home in West Des Moines, Iowa. 

Six-time NFL Pro Bowl wide receiver Chad Johnson had accepted the teen's gaming challenge. 

“He came through, and it was pretty awesome,” Skinner said.

Johnson, 40, who has also gone by Chad Ochocinco, was in town while his daughter competed in the AAU Junior Olympics. He's passed the time by facing off with anyone willing to battle him in the soccer video game. The former wide receiver -- who has 766 career receptions and 11,059 receiving yards in 166 career games -- tweeted Sunday night that he was willing to take on anyone when he arrived in Iowa.

Skinner, an 18-year-old West Des Moines Valley graduate and Northern Iowa student, tweeted Johnson a picture of a gaming system set up for FIFA. The NFL veteran saw it and asked Skinner for his address.

“He has such a big following,” Skinner said. “You never think you’re actually going to get a response from him.

Johnson rolled up in his rental car to face Skinner and hang out with five of his buddies: Nate Dennis, Carter Czipar, Tyler Criner, Charley Crowley and Austin Hinkle. 

Skinner said Johnson spent around two hours answering questions, playing ping pong and, of course, playing FIFA.

“He plays quite a bit,” Skinner said. “He’s pretty good. He gave me a run. He was just like a member of our squad for the day."
