Arucas

Gran Canaria

The municipality provides the opportunity to see corners which still preserve part of their original natural beauty.

The town of Arucas is in the northern part of the island of Gran Canary, some 12 kilometres from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Sitting on a mountainside of volcanic origin, it is surrounded by fields of corn, potatoes and banana plantations. A few eucalyptus trees can also be seen. The eruptions of the volcano or mountain of Arucas created the fertile plain of the same name, an area packed with mineral deposits and small capes like Camello Point. The town's surroundings stand out for their beauty, for example, the Palmitos ravine, a remarkable palm tree grove, and the Riquiánez ridge.
