Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt Still Aren’t Divorced But the 7-Year Legal Battle Is Almost Over

It’s hard to believe that Angelina Jolie split from Brad Pitt in 2016, and their divorce still hasn’t been finalized. The former couple has spent the last seven years in and out of court, fighting over everything from child custody to their winery in France. However, there might be light on the horizon soon.

It sounds like the 60-year-old actor and Jolie are in the final chapter of their legal battle. “They’re navigating the last of the red tape, which is a huge relief and morale boost,” an insider told Us Weekly. The divorce has taken its toll, though. Jolie is reportedly the parent their six children: Maddox, 22, Pax, 19, Zahara, 18, Shiloh, 17, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 15, turn to the most and some don’t speak to Pitt at all.

“It saddens him that he’s not on better terms with some of his kids, and he regrets that things got so acrimonious with Angelina, but the days of looking back in anger are behind him,” the source continued. It’s important to remember that Jolie’s breakup with Pitt was instigated by an alleged domestic violence event that occurred while the family’s private jet was in the air. Pitt has never been charged with a crime, but Jolie filed a lawsuit against the FBI seeking information about their investigation after the reported physical and verbal assault that happened in 2016.

Jolie also is looking forward to cutting her final ties to Pitt as she looks ahead to the future. “I don’t really have … a social life. I realized my closest friends are refugees. Maybe four out of six of the women that I am close to are from war and conflict,” she told WSJ Magazine late last year about her plans to live at her Cambodian home. “It’s part of what happened after my divorce. I lost the ability to live and travel as freely. I will move when I can.”

Pitt’s love life has also taken a turn in his relationship with 30-year-old girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, who reportedly just moved into his home. “It’s pretty recent,” a friend of de Ramon told People. “They are going very strong, and she is happier than ever.” A finalized divorce will likely be the best thing for both Pitt and Jolie who have been stuck in a never-ending cycle of court dates after they called it quits.
