Happy 100th birthday, Vivien Leigh

Happy birthday to the actress that made American southern belles into stars.

Vivien Leigh, born Vivian Mary Hartley, would have been 100 years old Tuesday. The actress was most well-known for her roles as Scarlett O’Hara in “Gone with the Wind” and Blanche DuBois in “A Streetcar Named Desire,” for both of which she won Best Actress Academy Awards.

Though made famous for her on-screen roles, Leigh performed just as much, if not more, onstage in London and on Broadway.

The actress died of tuberculosis in 1967 when was only 53 years old.
