The "Barnacle" is a new citation device used in Stuart

You don’t want to get caught with an unpaid parking ticket in this Florida city.

The Stuart Police Department announced their new citation contraption on Wednesday, called the “Barnacle.”

The Barnacle is here, and it could change parking enforcement

Instead of a standard yellow parking boot, the “Barnacle” completely blocks a driver’s windshield view, making it very hard--or even impossible--to drive away in your car.

The immobilization device works like a sea barnacle--by using suction to stick to an object.

What’s worse?

The device also has a movement sensor, so if you try to drive off with your vehicle, an alarm will go off.

Drivers who have five or more unpaid tickets “will qualify you for a personal introduction to the Barnacle,” the department wrote on their Facebook page.

Once the citation fees are paid, a code will be given to the driver for the “Barnacle” to be removed.

The Barnacle will then release from on the windshield, and the driver has up to 24 hours to return the it to a drop-off location.
