For Boomer kids who grew up in the ’60s, there was only one Batman: Adam West, who was born on this date. He played a not-so-Dark Knight on TV’s campy, iconic series, long before Michael Keaton, George Clooney or Ben Affleck donned the cape.

But West, who died earlier this year at age 88, admitted that after the series ended, he had a long stretch of not being able to escape the role. He couldn’t get other acting jobs. Typecast, and tight for money, he’d appear as Batman at practically anything that paid him.

We don’t know if that was the case in South Florida in January 1983, but it did result in what has to be the most adorable Batman photo ever, which we dug up from our archives.

According to the caption on the photo, 7-year-old Heather Keefe had won a Letters To Batman contest, which got her the chance to meet Batman and sit in the Batmobile with West behind the wheel. And put a party hat on the Caped Crusader, too. And who wouldn’t want to do that?
