Jake Pavelka insists he was a free man when he proposed to Vienna Giraldi on the season finale of “The Bachelor,” and not in love with another woman from his past.
After a mystery woman stepped forward to say she and Jake were still romantically entwined – despite his becoming engaged on national TV – he issued a statement to Entertainment Tonight.
“The relationship was prior to ‘The Bachelor.’ It simply did not work out,” he said.
“There was no overlap with that or any other relationship during the show. It is unfortunate that people such as this are trying to financially capitalize on or disparage my incredible relationship with Vienna. I only wish everyone could be as happy for us as we are happy together.”
The woman in question phoned a Florida radio station insisting that Pavelka contacted her after taping “The Bachelor” to say he still loved her. RadarOnline.com identifies her as Tanya Douglas, 25, from Marianna, Fla.
She reportedly called Steve Kramer, host of “That Guy Kramer” on Island 106 in Panama City, saying that Pavelka told her the women on the show meant nothing to him – including Giraldi. Pavelka told her he was forced to propose, she claimed.
“When you get down on one knee and propose to someone, I take that very seriously,” she said, her voice garbled to disguise her identity. “The fact that he did it exclusively because he was instructed to do that, it disappoints me so much.”
She maintains that she and Jake had made future commitments.
More scandal is in the wind. According to Entertainment Tonight, radio host Kramer says that in an unaired part of the interview, proof emerges that Pavelka was in touch with the other woman, who swears he was wooing her even as Giraldi was wearing his ring.
