Rafflesia is the genus containing the world's largest flowers. A special find on a climb up Mount Makiling (Philippines) in 2022 was a specimen of Rafflesia panchoana showing the phases of its life cycle: buds, mature, and senesced flowers, all vying for attention.
Lucky enough to see them in Maylasyia when I worked there. Fascinating Genus.
They are getting quite black in the end, aren't they.
I always remember when I first read about them and saw their pictures from a Reader's Digest illustrated encyclopedia series when I was a kid. Still neat.
