According to <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbNTKIITYv4" target="_blank">Sacha Tavolieri in a YouTube update</a>, the Blues are making concerted efforts to maximise revenue from player sales this summer to comply with the Premier League's Profit &amp; Sustainability Regulations (PSR). Hence, Chelsea want to alleviate the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/video-romelu-lukaku-sends-strong-message-chelsea-awkward-interview-starring-in-belgium-s-friendly-england/bltcde0c80527ba0edf" target="_blank">burden of Lukaku's wages and secure a transfer fee</a> with the aim of meeting their financial objectives.

WHAT HAPPENED?

While the club seeks €60 million for the Belgian forward, they acknowledge the possibility of getting around €40 million (£35m/$43m). It is alleged that they need to raise €43m (£37m/$46m) to save them from marking Lukaku as a financial loss after they paid £97.5m ($135m) in 2021.

Additionally, the potential return of Tammy Abraham to full fitness has diminished Roma's pursuit of Lukaku.
