Football great Samuel Eto’o has been filmed appearing to knee a man in the face after a Qatar World Cup match.

The video shows an incident which took place outside Stadium 974 following Brazil’s 4-1 win over South Korea on Tuesday (AEDT).

In the footage Eto’o, the 41-year-old Cameroon FA president, takes photos with fans but then appears to take exception with a comment made by one attendee, chasing them around the immediate area.

Others try to separate the pair before a physical altercation which sees Eto’o delivering a knee to the other man’s face, knocking him to the ground.

Outlets including the New York Times and Sky Sports News have asked for comment from the Cameroon FA, FIFA and the Qatari authorities.

Eto’o retired from football in 2019 after a stellar career for club and country.

He scored 56 goals in 118 caps for Cameroon, playing in four World Cups between 1998 and 2014.

Also featuring for Barcelona, Inter Milan and Chelsea, Eto'o is a Qatar World Cup 2022 legacy ambassador.
