How Singer Nicole Scherzinger Plans To Stay Healthy This Holiday Season

Following

Nicole Scherzinger is a celebrity for the ages. She found fame in 2005 as the lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls and ever since then she’s continued to etch her place in pop culture. She’s been nominated for a Grammy Award, was the featured artist on the pop-version of Slumdog Millionaire’s Jai Ho–which hit number one in 17 countries–and she took home the Mirrorball Trophy as the winner of Dancing With the Stars. She’s even credited for the creation of the Harry Styles-led boy band, One Direction, when she combined the then solo singer together into the now-world famous group during her time as a judge on the UK’s X-Factor.

Through it all, Scherzinger has stayed toned and together for the entirety of her nearly 20-year career and when asked about her tips and tricks to maintain her glow and fitness, the singer reacts with a laugh, “Oh my gosh, girl, how much time you got?”

A lot of time, indeed, when it’s Scherzinger sharing insights on how to turn back the clock, especially as the season of indulgence has begun.

“Balance,” she responds when asked what her key is to handling the holiday season. “Balance comes from within, and with me I think it’s just everything in moderation.”

In addition to moderation, the former girl-group lead singer relies on some exacting practices to get her through the holidays, and through life in general. She shares the importance of sleep and sweating, the latter which she achieves through exercise and the frequent use of steam rooms and saunas. “Sweating in any way,” she emphasizes. “Whether that's walking, being in a sauna, or dancing. Sweating along with simple things like sleep and water are so important.”

Scherzinger is also a massive fan of cold therapies citing frigid temps as a way to keep the body and face healthy and rejuvenated. “A cold plunge is incredible if you are puffy or not feeling well, or even hungover,” she enthuses. Cold plunges have become so integral to her wellness routine that Scherzinger had one installed in her home. “If you don't have access to a cold plunge, take a cold shower. Literally, for a few minutes, run the shower on full-on cold. It will wake you up and it will get everything going, tighten everything and take down swelling.”

In addition to enveloping herself with the cold, she’s a fan of topical cold therapy on her face through the use of refrigerated jade rollers to combat puffiness. “Keep the little jade rollers, or anything to roll over the face, in the refrigerator to get things moving. Do your cheekbones, under your eyes, jawlines and everything. But keep them cold, it’s the trick to reducing puffiness. I even keep my eye masks in the fridge as well. It’s all a real wake up call for your face.”

But somewhere between the cold and the heat, warmth plays into her well-being routine in the form of tea. “I love tea, and I’ve always loved tea. It’s so healing,” Scherzinger says. This love of tea spawned a holiday collaboration between her and Vahdam Teas with whom she’s curated a limited-edition box of her six favorite teas for the giving season.

“I got to create my own limited edition box for the holidays with some of my favorite teas. I mean, these are just some of my favorites,” she laughs. “I was able to choose 6 for the box, but they have endless choices. Everything you could ever want in any kind of tea and flavor, in any way, shape, or form. They have it. And it’s all made with the best ingredients.”

The limited edition box was conceived by Scherzinger and in addition to the 6 teas she’s selected, customers are also able to purchase an insulated tumbler emblazoned with the singer’s autograph.

Although, when it comes down to brass tacks the holidays are about letting go for her.

“Now is my time to just be in my cuddle state, in my hibernating state, to be a little soft, to indulge in some of the things that are my soul foods, and my warmer food, things that are just nourishing for the soul,” says Scherzinger. “Then when the new year comes, it's when I'm going to be a little bit more like a ninja with the food, and going to be a lot more on it with my workouts. It’s balance.”
