Erin Andrews reads lips on the field

Don’t be surprised if football players start covering their mouths around Erin Andrews.

Newly selected by Fox Sports as its lead NFL sideline reporter, Andrews reveals in the September issue of Health magazine that her lip-reading skills have paid off.

“I feel like a spy half the time,” she says. “In the NFL, we can’t report on injuries until the NFL has said what the injury is, but I hear so much stuff — like, in the huddles, a player saying, ‘ I just ripped my knee; I’m done.’ I’ve gotten really good at lip reading, and my boyfriend hates that!”

Her familiarity with dance — as a member of the University of Florida dance team — helped during her first year as co-host of Dancing With the Stars (after she had competed on the show).

She receives her share of potshots, though: “I’ve gotten ‘You look like Brad Pitt’ or that I look like a bird. .?.?. I recently tweeted a photo of a David Yurman ring I was wearing, and I didn’t have any moisturizer on, and they were like ‘Your hands look like the old lady from Titanic.’ This is coming from a person whose avatar is a cat.”
