This 2005 Lexus LS 430 is a Modern Classic
Tommy Mica from TFLclassics gives us an in-depth look at a 2005 Lexus LS 430. This luxury sedan could accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH in 5.9 seconds in its prime.
In one of its recent videos, the YouTube channel TFLclassics offers an in-depth look at a 2005 Lexus LS 430. This particular car was way ahead of its time, and in the early 2000s, the Lexus LS 430 offered more features than most of its rivals in the segment. Tommy Mica from TFLclassics walks us through all the “crazy gadgets and gizmos” the 2005 Lexus LS 430 had to offer in the video.
Unlike other luxury sedans from European automakers like BMW and Mercedes, the Lexus LS 430 was a more user-friendly product. For instance, Toyota’s Luxury sub-brand offered the LS 430 with a unique key equipped with a proximity sensor. Instead of a push start/stop button, the LS 430 was offered with an ignition knob. Customers could also use the key fob to turn the ignition knob like a conventional key.
Tommy shared his thoughts on this modern classic, “The third-gen you can really tell, they (Lexus) were targeting the Mercedes of the era. Everything’s a little bit more sloopy, everything a little bit more laid back. This thing is a fantastic piece of engineering, and this is why you buy a Lexus,” explains Tommy. He further adds, “A Lexus of the sierra, even with 250,000 miles, it’s gonna feel tight, it’s gonna last another 200k probably.”
The 2005 Lexus LS 430 in the video has oscillating AC vents. This feature directs air around the cabin, but the vents return to the center when one switches off the car.
We find lots of wood trim adorning the dashboard, door panels, and center console inside the cabin. Interestingly enough, the wooden trim in this LS 430 is still in pretty good condition. A testament to the Lexus build quality is the sedan’s disappearing cup holder, which still works after 17 years.
Under the hood of this LS 430, we find a 4.3-liter V8 motor. The powerplant hooks up to a dual exhaust system. This motor could churn out 290 HP of maximum power in its factory tune and 320 LB ft of peak torque. A six-speed automatic transmission is also part of the ensemble. In its prime the car could accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH in 5.9 seconds.
