A matter of time

For all those “conservative, God-fearing” people who steadfastly stand by Donald Trump, please review the Ten Commandments. Which of those has your idol, Donald, followed? Donald has no respect for anyone, whether Republican, Democrat, independent, male or female, or whatever leader he sucks up to, let alone the United States of America. It’s just a matter of time, and not necessarily the next election.

Filling space?

Brotha Blanks in the News-Sun, really? So now we are needing to fill space in the newspaper with an Individual that is obviously not good for our community. Why does a paper that is the largest in the county support this kind of individual and views? Freedom of speech? Yea right for who?

To clarify

I’ve seen two Talk Of The County discussions about illegal immigration. Unless you have been there and done that, you have no clue. Illegals do not come legally. That makes no sense. Those that come on a visa and are overstays etc. violated their visa status. Thus a crime has been committed and they are not Illegally in the country. Those that apply for asylum do at the entry at the border, not in court. That procedure is later. Everyone who has not done the job and understand what our officers face every day just don’t understand what they do for us. Illegals are just that — illegal, a crime enacted by Congress. If you are ever affected (which you are indirectly with taxes etc., especially in our school system) I am quite sure you and everyone else’s view would be different.

Fast food fury

If the people in Waukegan really want lower taxes, they might think about making the businesses that open here more welcome. I managed a fast food restaurant in Waukegan for many years, and many times I wondered who raised these the people that came in. The neighbors hated us, and I can understand why. People turned up their radios so loud that they rattled the windows as they drove by. They tossed garbage all over the neighborhood, and every night we would pick up booze bottles, fast food wrappers, dirty diapers and God knows what else. Many times, we found people in our Dumpster, or urinating in the parking lot. If we had a disturbance and called the police, they never arrested anyone. They just told us to call them if they came back. Once new restaurants find out who their customers are, they close before their first year’s lease is up. Look at how quickly the restaurants downtown close and then walk into the one fast food restaurant remaining and you’ll see why. The icing on the cake is the city’s tax on restaurants, the highest in the county.

What a waste

Regarding the picture of a North Chicago teacher trying to tutor students who couldn’t care less: All the students are sitting there looking bored or playing with their phones. Obviously the teacher is the only one who cares. What a waste of time and money.

Pay attention

As a former teacher, I was appalled at the lack of attentiveness of the North Chicago high school students in the picture of the students on the front page. Three of them appear to be on their iPhones. And the teacher is busy on his laptop. Sit up, pay attention and learn.
