Agave

They actually grow pretty well here in the Phoenix area, but not in the full blazing sun. I have a friend who has one in his yard under a shade tree that is growing quite well. Next time I am over there I will try and get a picture.
Mine just above, I got it in 2011 as a tiny seedling in a 2" pot. It has not been well cared for, so I bet only a couple years growth in good conditions. They bloom when small!
