A Tragicomic Ode to the Foreverness of Plastic.
The Plastic Bag Store is a public art installation and immersive film experience by Brooklyn-based artist Robin Frohardt that uses humor, craft, and a critical lens to question our culture of consumption and convenience — specifically, the enduring effects of single-use plastics. The shelves are stocked with thousands of original, hand-sculpted items — produce and meat, dry goods and toiletries, cakes and sushi rolls — all made from discarded, single-use plastics in an endless cacophony of packaging.
The Plastic Bag Store has an estimated run time of 60 minutes.

From the co-creator and star of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend comes a one-woman musical comedy that is definitely NOT about the ever-present specter of death. Rachel Bloom’s new show is filled with raunchy and escapist material that will in NO way explore the pandemic and all the tumultuous events that ensued in her personal life. WTF IS NEXT

A mini festival-within-the-festival, WTF IS NEXT previews the future of the Williamstown Theatre Festival experience from Thursday, August 1 through Sunday, August 4. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be immersed in a full slate of experiences and exclusive events that reflect an expansive expression of theater within the breathtaking natural beauty of the Berkshires.
You’ll start your time with a welcoming experience that will both ground and orient you for what’s to come. Depending on when you arrive, you then may find yourself at a dining experience, or a show. Or both. Either way, you’ll end your night with a Nightcap. Over the course of the weekend, you may find yourself at an outdoor concert, a live taping of a popular podcast, a world-premiere play, an outdoor community happening, a burlesque-inspired variety performance – a full schedule of expansive programming. No matter what, we won’t send you home without a proper sendoff and an understanding of what you can come to expect from the Festival as it transforms into its next chapter. You’ll have to experience it to know it.

These schedules will be updated with project titles and venue information at a later date. WTF IS NEXT is a curated weekend journey; passholders will be assigned event times, as well as seats for non-general admission events, closer to the mini-festival weekend. Tickets will be issued at each Kickoff event. Due to limited capacities for the weekend and within each venue, performance times cannot be exchanged. Passes are non-transferable and badges will be issued for use by one person only.

The author of “innumerable clever comedies” (The New York Times), David Ives puts a noir spin on an existential romance in this world premiere play. Pamela Palmer lives a seemingly perfect life with her husband at Wishwood but has a bizarre suspicion something’s wrong, only for them both to become entangled with the detective she hires to investigate. Directed by Ives’ longtime collaborator, Walter Bobbie (Chicago, Venus in Fur), Pamela Palmer goes undercover as a plainclothes philosophical look at the human condition.

WTF’s Fridays@3 reading series is a renowned program for the development and discovery of new work curated by the Festival’s Artistic Associate, Lianna Rada-Hung. Many Festival productions have started as Fridays@3 readings. Spend the afternoon at The Clark Auditorium with a play in development, directed and performed by industry professionals. All readings take place at 3 PM in the Auditorium at the Clark Art Institute (225 South Street, Williamstown, MA 01267).

Play development is a year-round activity at WTF. Every summer, the Festival supports new work in development by inviting artists to participate in workshops and residencies. Performances of these works-in-progress will be public and reservations will be required. Tickets are free, and will be made available in the coming weeks. Decades before Marcel Marceau became the world’s most famous mime, he joined the French resistance, saving Jewish children from the Nazis by smuggling them on a train to safety. This is the story of one of those train rides.
In addition to these companies, Kamilah Bush, John J. Caswell, Jr., Peggy Noonan, and Ellis Stump will join us as playwrights-in-residence this summer.

Use of face masks is optional for all visitors at the ’62 Center for Theatre & Dance, Clark Art Institute, and MASS MoCA.
PROCESSING FEES & WILL CALL
All tickets are subject to a $5 processing fee per ticket. All tickets will be digital this summer and emailed as a link in the order confirmation email.
Exchange Policy
Tickets may be exchanged for the same production up to 48 hours prior to the performance you are unable to attend (subject to availability). A $3 per-ticket fee (waived for Donors at the $500 level and above) will be charged in addition to any applicable ticket upgrade costs. Refunds will not be made on exchanges into a lower-priced performance or seating area. We regret that we cannot seat a patron who has missed a previous performance.
Refund Policy
All sales are final. There are no refunds. Program, casting, and COVID-19 protocols are subject to change. If you find you are unable to use your tickets, please consider returning them to the Box Office prior to the performance to receive a tax-deductible receipt.
Accessibility
The ‘62 Center for Theatre & Dance is wheelchair accessible. Please request accessible seating when ordering tickets. A limited number of assistive listening devices are available for all performances on a first-come, first-served basis. AccessTix
A limited number of AccessTix will be available for every Festival performance for $30. While there are no restrictions on who can purchase AccessTix, the purpose of this reduced price ticket program is to provide an entry-level price point for people who cannot otherwise afford to attend the Festival, so please consider this when making your ticket selection. AccessTix quantities are limited and availability may vary by production and performance. There is a limit of four AccessTix per performance per customer.
EBT & ConnectorCare Card to Culture
WTF is a proud participant in the state-wide Card to Culture initiative created by the Mass Cultural Council in partnership with the Executive Office of Health and Humans Services’ Department of Transitional Assistance, and the Massachusetts Health Connector, respectively. Anyone with a Massachusetts-issued EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) card or ConnectorCare health insurance card may contact the Box Office via phone or in-person to purchase $20 tickets to performances on the MainStage and CenterStage (tickets subject to availability; offer limited to two tickets per EBT or ConnectorCare card). Gift Certificates
Gift Certificates are available throughout the year in any denomination and make wonderful birthday, holiday, or thank you gifts. To order, call the Box Office Hotline at (413) 458-3253 or click on the BUY button on our website. Gift certificates can be mailed to either the buyer or recipient.
Parking
Ample free parking is available in the three-level parking garage behind the theater, accessible from Main Street (Route 2) and from Whitman Street, just off of Route 7. Additionally, there is street parking and accessible parking available across the street from the theater on Stetson Court and Park Street or in the public parking lot at the bottom of Spring Street (a short walk to the theater). Please adhere to all posted parking regulations, or you may be ticketed.
Latecomers
Performances start on time; latecomers will be admitted at the House Manager’s discretion.
Cameras & Recording Devices
All cameras and recording devices are strictly forbidden inside the theater. Please check them with the House Manager before entering the theater.
Phone Use
Phone use during performances is strictly prohibited. Silence your phone and turn off alarms prior to entering the theater. Anyone seen using a device (phone, smart watch or accessories) during the performance will be escorted out of the venue.
