According to several witnesses who just strolled down Pine on Capitol Hill, it appears Death Cab for Cutie’s frontman Ben Gibbard is still cutting his hair like that.

“I was just walking down the street on a totally normal night and then I saw it – Ben Gibbard with the same haircut he’s had since at least 2003,” said witness Tara Wilson. “Even after a pandemic? Even after the great side-part shaming of 2021? But how? I immediately texted all of my friends–I couldn’t believe it.”

Gibbard’s hair has reportedly stayed exactly the same since Seattle gave it historical designation in 2009.

“I’m glad they did that because, I have to say, it’s nice that something in this city hasn’t changed in the last two decades,” said another witness Jonathan Burke. “I may not recognize the city I grew up in anymore, but I can always take comfort that I can recognize Ben Gibbard anywhere he goes.”

When approached for comment, Mr. Gibbard responded with a silent smile while brushing his hair out of the way, revealing a coy wink before entering a waiting USPS truck that drove him off into the distance.
