Nine Lives! Catwoman Julie Newmar Suffers — And Survives — Heart Attack

TV’s original Catwoman Julie Newmar survived a middle-of-the-night heart attack, proving to the world that the iconic beauty does indeed have nine lives!
In an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com, the stunning-at-84 Newmar told all about the nightmare 3 a.m. call to 911 that brought real-life heroes to her home to save her from an acute myocardial infarction on April 21.
“I was saved by two handsome paramedics who whisked me to St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, to be welcome by seven super-efficient nurses at 3 a.m, evidently a good time to show up,” the blond beauty told RadarOnline.com.
This time it wasn’t Catwoman’s heartthrob Batman, played by Adam West, responding to the “bat signal” to rescue the TV show villainess, but cardiologist Dr. Steven Levine answering a late-night call to the operating room!
“I apologized to Dr. Steven Levine for inconveniencing his good sleep,” said Newmar, who became a larger-than-life sex symbol thanks to the campy, 1960's show.
Newmar said she had a stent implant done and was purring again 40 minutes later!

“Until then, the pain had been intense,” said the 5-foot-11 actress, who is also a dancer and a singer known for a variety of stage roles, including the part of Katrin Sveg in the 1958 Broadway sex comedy, "The Marriage-Go-Round," for which she won a Tony award.
She starred as Catwoman on Batman’s first two seasons, 1967 and 1968. The character also was played by Lee Meriwhether in the 1966 movie and Eartha Kitt for the third and final season of the show before it was cancelled. Re-runs gave the program a second life and cult-status that galvanized Newmar as the most-beloved Catwoman.
Fans still mourning the loss of Adam, who died from Leukemia June 9 at the age of 88, gave a collective sigh of relief knowing Julie had pulled through.
“Starting with the immediate response from 911,” she says “I was passed through a miracle of loving hands. Feeling OK.”
