Shannen Doherty is ‘thankful’ to ‘be here’ after ‘contentious’ year of cancer battle, ex’s alleged affair

Shannen Doherty is grateful she gets to celebrate another Christmas.

The actress, 52, has been suffering from breast cancer since 2015, and revealed on a Monday’s episode of her podcast “Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty” that she’s “thankful” to be with her loved ones this time of year.

“This year is about just being incredibly grateful that we’re here and we get to spend time with the people that are by our sides through thick and thin, who don’t walk away, who love us unconditionally, and that have the same beliefs and morals and standards and people who have character,” the “Beverly Hills, 90210” star said.

Doherty — who was joined on the radio show by her mother, Rosa — added: “I’m just so thankful really to be here for it.”

She explained that she scheduled her cancer infusion treatments so that she could be “recovered completely” for Christmas.

The “Little House on the Prairie” alum added that 2023 was a “turbulent year” for her amid her health battles, “personal struggles, a lot of heartbreak and fear.”

In November, she revealed that her illness has spread to her bones.

She also filed for divorce from her ex-husband, Kurt Iswarienko, in April after allegations that he cheated on her.

The “Charmed” star accused Iswarienko of having an affair during their 12-year marriage. The couple tied the knot in 2011 and split this year.

She claimed she found out about his infidelity in January before undergoing surgery to remove a tumor from her brain.

The Post has reached out to a rep for Iswarienko for comment. He has yet to speak out on the claims.

“But with all of that, I have found… I was actually saying this to myself the other night, ‘God I think I’m actually starting to live the happiest version of myself,'” Doherty said on Monday’s episode.

“Even though it’s been such a contentious year for me,” she noted. “For some reason it just feels it’s gotten a lot lighter lately and a lot more positive.”

Doherty gushed positively: “Next year’s going to be beautiful.”

In the Dec. 6 episode of “Let’s Be Clear,” Doherty detailed some of her health struggles, such as her massive weight loss after undergoing rounds of chemotherapy.

The Memphis native divulged that she lost 92 pounds and was “incredibly dehydrated” after her sessions.

“My husband at the time was sort of begging me to keep going, and my mom [was] literally trying to pick me up out of bed and get me to the doctor,” she said. “At that point in time, I thought that I wouldn’t survive it.”
