Astronaut legend Buzz Aldrin, 88, says his son and daughter have been ruining his love life to ensure they’d have control of his cash.
The former spaceman — who was the second person to walk on the moon — also is suing his kids because he says they have been “slandering” him by saying he suffers from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, according to a report.
Aldrin says son Andrew Aldrin, 60, and daughter Janice Aldrin, 51, committed fraud by claiming he had health problems in order to seize control of his money, according to the Wall Street Journal.
“Nobody is going to come close to thinking I should be under a guardianship,” Aldrin fumed to the paper.
The astronaut says his son has swiped nearly half a million dollars from his personal bank account in the past two years, according to the lawsuit, filed in Brevard County, Fla., on June 7.
His son and daughter committed elder abuse by hiding “pertinent financial and business information” from him, according to the lawsuit.
They also took his pricey space memorabilia and blocked him from having relationships with women so they could control his money, court papers state. Aldrin has been married three times.
But his adult kids say his allegations are bogus.
“[We are] deeply disappointed and saddened by the unjustified lawsuit that has been brought against us,” they told the Wall Street Journal. “We love and respect our father very much and remain hopeful that we can rise above this situation and recover the strong relationship that built this foundation in the first place.”
The space icon has never been great with money, according to a longtime friend.
“Buzz is a genius, he’s the smartest guy I ever met,” Robert Tourtelot told the Wall Street Journal. “But Buzz has never been street smart.”
Aldrin is also suing Christina Korp, a business partner and administrator for his nonprofit.
