Beijing Capital Airport posts double-digit traffic growth in 2010

CHINA. Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) has posted a +13.1% surge in passenger traffic year-on-year for 2010, to 73.9 million. There was also a +11.3% year-on-year increase in passenger traffic to 5.96 million in December.

Passenger traffic on international, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan air routes increased by about +15.9% in the final month of the year. The passenger throughput by foreign airlines grew about +13.5% year-on-year, while passenger throughput by domestic air routes rose about +10.0%.

The number of aircraft movements for the same period rose +3.8% to 43,260.

Aircraft movements on international, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan air routes increased by some +13.9%. Aircraft movements by foreign airlines rose about +13.2%, while domestic air routes recorded a rise in aircraft movements of around +1.2%.

In 2010 as a whole, the accumulative total of aircraft movements was 517,580, representing an increase of approximately +6.0% compared with the same period of the previous year.

As at the end of 2010 there were 214 flight points at the airport, including 118 domestic and 96 international flight points.
