Chuck’s Palahniuk’s Dark Horse Comics graphic novel sequel Fight Club 2 was loved and hated by fans.
Which is kinda where Chuck dwells.
He doesn’t give a shit what you think.
You’ve got your “expectations”? You want to tell your stories? Go right on ahead Sunshine. Nobody’s stopping you.
These are his stories, and despite your misinterpretations or co-opting of the messages you wish he would deliver, grown folks are speaking, he’s got things he needs to say and lets the chips fall as they may.
Which is why I love him.
This time around, in Fight Club 3, Tyler Durden in middle age finds him even darker, penned in by Father Time and this suburban 21st Century ant-farm shit show he dreaded in his twenties.
Guess what?
Tyler Durden isn’t going gently into that good night.
Not by a fucking long shot!
This sequel to the sequel is brilliantly written by Chuck and Illustrated by his go-to dynamic duo of Cameron Stewart and Dave McCaig.
Here’s an exclusive taste of Fight Club 3 issue #4!
The first ones always free!
This time around it’s a slow burn. He’s not all up in your face right away as in Fight Club 2.
Since Fight Club 2, Palahniuk has grown more self-reflective, his 2018 novel Adjustment Day, his Vonnegut-esque exploration of the fragmentation of society I interviewed Chuck about is shadowed here.
The pacing of Fight Club 3 mirrors this.
So buckle up Dorthy, when the wheels come off this bus? Kansas is going bye bye!
