1988 Isuzu Trooper II LS 4×4

This 1988 Isuzu Trooper II LS was first sold in Missouri and has remained registered in the state through the seller’s acquisition in September 2022. Finished in two-tone Pure White and Seaside Beige over brown cloth upholstery, the truck is powered by a 2.6-liter SOHC inline-four linked with a four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes a vertical-split tailgate, 15″ aluminum alloy wheels, manually locking front hubs, four-wheel disc brakes, dual mirrors, air conditioning, cruise control, a split-folding rear bench seat, reclining front seats with folding armrests, and a factory stereo. Work performed in preparation for the sale is said to have included replacing the timing chain, water pump, thermostat, and rear main seal as well as adjusting the lifters and carrying out an oil change. This Trooper II shows 53k miles and is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, a workshop manual, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Missouri title in the seller’s name.

The truck is finished in two-tone Pure White and Seaside Beige (872) with red accent stripes. Features include a vertical-split tailgate, a spoiler, roof crossbars, and gray bumpers as well as an aftermarket reverse light. Photos show cracks in the license plate light housing, areas of rust, and paint chips and scratches on various panels.

Six-spoke 15″ aluminum alloy wheels are wrapped in 235/75 Michelin Radial XH4 tires, and a full-size spare with an Isuzu-branded cover is mounted to the rear cargo door. The truck is equipped with an independent front suspension and manually locking front hubs. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted disc brakes at all four corners with ventilated rotors up front. The seller states that the front brake pads were approximately 500 miles ago. Photos show blemishes on the wheels.

The reclining front seats and the split-folding rear bench seat are upholstered in two-tone brown cloth. Appointments include air conditioning, cruise control, a factory stereo, Trooper II-branded floor mats, and crank windows. The seller notes that the cassette player functions intermittently and states that the door switch for the rear dome light is inoperative.

The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 100-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a central panel of status indicator lights, while a trio of auxiliary gauges is located in the center stack. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 53k miles, approximately 1k of which were added by the seller.

The 2.6-liter 4ZE1 SOHC inline-four was factory rated at 120 horsepower and 152 lb-ft of torque. Maintenance performed in preparation for the sale is said to have included replacing the timing belt, water pump, thermostat, rear main seal, fuel pressure regulator, upper and lower radiator hoses, and compressor and alternator belts as well as adjusting the lifters and changing the oil.

Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case.

Manufacturer’s literature and a workshop manual will accompany the truck.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Missouri. Gaps in entries are visible from November 1988 to May 2002 as well as between June 2013 and March 2020.
